This is why the band digitally released The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963 back in 2013. Copyright laws in the UK are forcing many classic musicians to release the contents of their vaults in order to legally protect them. Pepper’s seems like an obvious place to start, it is a little surprising they didn’t start with the earliest Beatles recordings circa 1962. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. Naturally, there will also be elaborate packaging, including a 144 page book, posters, and a reproduction of the original cardboard album insert. Highlights include new stereo mixes, 5.1 surround mixes, and mono versions, as well as unreleased recordings and multiple takes from the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band will be released in deluxe and super deluxe editions on both CD and vinyl on May 26, 2017. It is only natural that the first such release would be for an album frequently cited as the best of all time. Never before, however, have we seen a true deluxe edition of any of The Beatles classic albums, let alone a super deluxe edition. Over the years, we have seen remasters of their albums, mono box sets, and opening of the BBC radio vaults. At long last, The Beatles are getting into the “super deluxe” game.
